TEXTING AND DRIVING SCHOLARSHIP
Deadline: April 12, 2019
Texting and driving poses a serious safety hazard for young drivers in across the United States. To spread the message about the dangers of texting and driving, Morris, King & Hodge, P.C. is sponsoring the 3rd Annual Driver Safety Scholarship program. Our law firm will award three scholarships to 2019 graduating seniors and/or rising freshmen in Alabama colleges and universities who create an original essay explaining the dangers of texting and driving and practical steps to ending this momentous problem.
Sending text messages takes drivers’ eyes off the road, their hands off the wheel and their mind off the task of driving and remaining alert for oncoming traffic. What can we do as a community to convey to young drivers that texting and driving leads to serious and avoidable accidents? We’re confident our young people have some good ideas.

Troy University Extends Deadline
Due to the recent catastrophic events in the Florida panhandle we are extending our original December 1st scholarship deadline to January 15, 2019 for all fall 2019 applicants. A significant amount of future TROY Trojans were greatly impacted by Hurricane Michael and we don’t want anyone affected to miss future opportunities at TROY due to a December deadline. With that being said, the scholarship deadline extension to January 15 will allow December National ACT scores to be included in our scholarship evaluations.
Please keep in mind that at TROY, students must be accepted prior to applying for scholarships and we do superscore ACT/SAT scores for scholarship purposes only. Please direct your students to apply for TROY admissions online at https://enroll.troy.edu and after they are accepted to apply for scholarships online athttps://troy.academicworks.com .
